Formerly of the Sacred Hearts’ General House, Rome; the Sacred Hearts Community, Ealing Common, London and the Cooley Peninsula, Co Louth. Peacefully, in the wonderful and kind care of the staff at St Vincent’s Hospital, on Wednesday 13th August 2025. Predeceased by his parents: Kathleen (nee Rogan) & Francis Laverty. Fr Derek will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his kind, loving and beloved cousins and their families: Mary, Michael, Celia, Seán, Nuala, Bernie, Alley, Concepta, Emer and Áine, his extended family, his religious community of the Sacred Hearts’ Sisters, Brothers and Secular Branch members, neighbours, friends and all those he ministered to in his various appointments.

May Fr. Derek’s faithful, kind and encouraging soul, now rest in peace in the arms of the

Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who he served so well.

Reposing in the Serenity Room of Quinn’s Funeral Homes, Dundalk, Co. Louth (A91 KW52, entrance on Castletown Road) on Friday, 15th August from 3pm-7pm. Funeral Mass on Sunday, 17th August 2025 at 2pm in the Church of St James, Grange (A91 V5XT), with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
